I cleaned something by mistake — can I get it back?

Yes, always. ClutClean never permanently deletes your files: cleaning moves them to the macOS Trash. Open the Trash, find the item, and choose Put Back. The only exceptions are the two optional Pro maintenance features you turn on yourself (scheduled Trash cleaning and browser history cleaning), which the app explains before you enable them.

Why does ClutClean ask me to grant folder access?

ClutClean is fully sandboxed, as all Mac App Store apps should be. It can only see folders you explicitly grant through the macOS folder picker. You grant access once, and every later scan is one click with zero dialogs. You can revoke any grant at any time in Settings → Folder Access.

How do I restore my Pro purchase on a new Mac?

Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you purchased with, then open ClutClean and choose Restore Purchases in Settings or on the Pro screen. Pro is a one-time purchase — no subscription, no renewal — so it's yours on every Mac you own.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

Free includes unlimited Quick Scan, cleaning with no size caps, uninstalling apps you installed yourself, the duplicate finder, startup manager, and system monitor. Pro adds leftover detection when uninstalling, the big-file finder, one-click Health Check, browser history cleaning, and scheduled Trash cleaning — for a single one-time purchase.

How do I uninstall an app?

Open the Uninstall tab. The header above the list tells you how many of your apps ClutClean can remove, and sorts those to the top. Pick one — or drag any app onto the window — and choose Move App to Trash. macOS will ask you to confirm the app in a picker; that's the sandbox grant, and it's required before ClutClean may touch a bundle you haven't already granted. Click Allow, and the app plus any leftovers you selected move to the Trash together. Nothing is deleted permanently.

Why can't ClutClean remove apps I installed from the Mac App Store?

Because macOS won't let it, and we'd rather say so than show a button that could only fail. App Store apps are installed into /Applications owned by the system (root:wheel), so moving one to the Trash requires administrator escalation — and App Store apps are forbidden from doing that. Cleaners that canremove them are distributed outside the App Store, where the sandbox rules don't apply.

ClutClean marks those apps with a storefront badge, points you to Finder or Launchpad to remove the app itself, and still finds and cleans up the leftover files it leaves behind — which is the part we can genuinely do. Everything you installed yourself (a browser, a media player, anything from the web) uninstalls normally.

I clicked “Move App to Trash” and nothing happened.

You most likely dismissed the macOS permission picker that appears first. ClutClean is sandboxed, so it needs you to confirm the app in that picker before it can move it. Choose Move App to Trash again, select the same app, and click Allow.

Why doesn't ClutClean support cleaning Safari history?

Sandboxed Mac App Store apps cannot access Safari's data — and rather than pretend otherwise, we say so. Browser history cleaning works with Chrome, Brave, Edge, and Firefox, and only on a browser profile you explicitly grant.

Why can't ClutClean do a “deep system clean” like some apps claim?

Mac App Store apps run in Apple's sandbox: no Full Disk Access, no root helpers, no system-level daemons. ClutClean is honest about that scope — it cleans what a sandboxed app genuinely can (caches, logs, old installers, duplicates, app leftovers in folders you grant) and never shows fake “deep clean” results or scare counters.

Does ClutClean collect any data about me?

No. No tracking, no analytics, no accounts, no third-party SDKs. Everything runs on your Mac. See the full privacy policy.

Which languages and macOS versions are supported?

ClutClean requires macOS 26 or later and is fully localized in English, Arabic, and Tamil.
