ClutClean for macOS

The short version: ClutClean collects no data. No tracking, no analytics, no accounts, no third-party SDKs, no servers. Everything runs on your Mac, and nothing it scans ever leaves it.

What we collect

Nothing. ClutClean has no analytics, no crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising identifiers, and no user accounts. The app never transmits your files, file names, folder contents, usage patterns, or any other information to us or to anyone else. Its App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected” — and this page is the long-form version of that same promise.

How the app accesses your files

ClutClean is fully sandboxed by macOS. It can only read folders that you explicitly grant through the standard macOS folder-selection dialog, and you can revoke any grant at any time from the app's Settings. All scanning, duplicate detection, and size analysis run locally on your Mac.

Uninstalling works the same way. Before ClutClean can move an app to the Trash, macOS asks you to confirm that specific app in a picker; the app is granted individually, and nothing is removed if you dismiss that picker. Apps installed from the Mac App Store are owned by the system and cannot be moved to the Trash by any sandboxed app — ClutClean says so plainly rather than attempting it.

Cleaning moves files to the Trash — nothing is hard-deleted, so you can always undo. The two optional Pro maintenance features (scheduled Trash cleaning and browser history cleaning) also run entirely on your Mac, only on folders you granted, and only after you explicitly turn them on. ClutClean never reads your bookmarks, passwords, messages, or documents' contents — it looks at file metadata (names, sizes, dates) to do its job.

Purchases

The optional Pro upgrade is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data stored on your Mac

ClutClean stores a small amount of data locally, and only locally: your folder-access grants (including any individual app you approved for removal), your app preferences (such as maintenance schedules you configure), and your Pro entitlement state. Deleting the app removes this data.

Children's privacy

ClutClean is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, we expect changes to be rare and minor.
